On the 23rd August 1305, William Wallace was executed
at Smithfield in London, found guilty of treason by the court of
Edward I - a charge which he vehemently denied on the basis that
he could not commit treason against a king who was not his own.
Seven hundred years later, the local community organised a commemorative
event, for which Tournée were contracted to organise the
re-enactment event.
LANARK 2009
Scotland's History Festival
After the successful events in 2005-2008, this event
returns for 2009 on its expanded site at the Old Racecourse. In

influence of the Norse world on the fledgling Kingdom of Scotland,
the Roman influence on Scotland, the time of the Covenant in the late C17th, and the Napoleonic Wars.
A dedicated
public website for the event is now available, containing information
for the public and potential traders at the event. This section
is intended for re-enactment participants.
You are invited to come and join the Scottish and
English armies at this major weekend.
